  1. If you are caught in a storm while riding a bicycle or motorcycle, stop and wait for the storm to pass at least 30 meters away from your vehicle. Do not continue driving a car, as electrical malfunctions may occur. Close the windows and wait out the storm inside.
  2. If you find yourself in an open area during a thunderstorm, lie down on the ground (preferably on sand or rocky soil) in a low area. Ensure that you are not near a body of water, as water is a good conductor of electricity, and lightning can strike within a 100-meter radius of water.
  3. Drivers should exercise extreme caution while driving.
  4. Pedestrians should be particularly careful when crossing roads and staying near them.
  5. If possible, refrain from long-distance travel.

При усилении ветра

  1. It is recommended to limit your time outdoors and stay inside buildings. Do not leave children unattended.
  2. If a strong wind catches you outside, seek shelter in underground passages or building entrances. Avoid hiding near walls, as debris may fall from roofs. This also applies to public transport stops and unfinished buildings.
  3. Stay away from advertising billboards, signs, and power lines.
  4. Do not stand near large trees or park vehicles close to them, as fallen branches can pose a significant risk.
  5. It is extremely dangerous to stand under power lines or approach downed wires during strong winds.
  6. Be mindful of falling glass from upper floors, as well as roofing and decorative elements, which can be dislodged by the wind. This risk is heightened near construction or renovation sites.
  7. All windows in homes should be securely closed, and any objects that could fall from balconies or terraces should be removed.
  8. Try to stay away from windows in residential or workspaces.
  9. If possible, avoid long-distance travel.
  10. Pedestrians are advised to cross streets only at designated pedestrian crossings and to avoid running across roads in front of moving vehicles, as slippery road conditions can increase stopping distances. Walk against the flow of traffic and use high-visibility vests or reflective elements on clothing.

При граде

If you are in a car, stay away from windows, preferably turning your back to them (facing the center of the cabin) and covering your eyes with your hands or clothing. If you have small children with you, shield them with your body and cover their eyes similarly. Lying on the floor is advisable if space permits. If you are driving, pull over carefully but do not stop in the middle of the road. Check for nearby shelters (bridges, overpasses, garages, covered parking) but be cautious of pulling off the road into low areas where water may accumulate. Do not drive into areas where hail is collecting, as your vehicle may lose control. Never exit your vehicle during hail! Remember, hail typically lasts around 6 minutes and rarely exceeds 15 minutes.

If hail catches you indoors, stay away from windows and do not leave your home. Avoid using electrical appliances, as hail is often accompanied by thunderstorms. If you are caught outside during hail, seek shelter. If you cannot find cover, protect your head from hailstone impacts. Do not enter low areas which can quickly fill with water, nor seek cover under trees, as they may attract lightning strikes or have branches broken off by large hail. If you or someone nearby is injured by hail, contact emergency services and provide an estimate of the hail size.

Как уберечь себя при ливне

  1. When alerted to heavy rainfall, avoid traveling around the city and, if possible, stay at home or work. Turn on radio and television for updates.
  2. If caught in heavy rain outdoors, do not enter underground passages or other low-lying areas. Seek shelter in buildings above potential flood levels.
  3. If the building you are in begins to flood, try to leave and move to higher ground.
  4. If caught in a downpour while driving, do not attempt to cross flooded areas. Gradually move to the right lane (to the shoulder) and stop without sudden braking. Turn on hazard lights and wait for the rain to subside. If water rises rapidly, exit the vehicle and move to higher ground or the nearest building.
